Soap opera star and mother support lung cancer research

By SHAUNIE CADIEUX, The Press-Repulican (Plattsburgh, NY) PLATTSBURGH — Daytime TV star Stephanie Gatschet from ABC's "All My Children" and CBS's "Guiding Light" was present during The Life & Breath Party to benefit the National Lung Cancer Partnership. Her mother, Nancy Gatschet, never even had a cough. In fact, she had none of the traditional symptoms of lung cancer. Besides that, she was in good physical condition, ate well and had low blood pressure. It wasn't until she started experiencing a strange pain in her upper back and a gagging sensation when laying down that she decided to have a routine chest X-ray — a decision that saved her life.
